The objective is to apprehend the basic terms, business instruments and business operations in travel agencies. Through this subject, students are supposed to acquire the necesary expertise in the domain of formation of travel agencies' service program, with emphasis on the travel arrangement, as the specific product of travel agencies. The subject of research comprises the analysis of particularities in performing business operations in travel agencies, analysis of current business tendencies of these firms in the tourism market, as well as the analysis of new competitive strategies and adaptations to future changes.

Apprehension of basic theoretical knowledge in the domain of business of travel agencies, as well as acquisition of practical knowledge and skills which would facilitate direct involvement in the work process of travel agencies.

1. Basic features of formation and development of travel agencies in the world and in Serbia. 2. Functions of travel agencies. 3. Conditions for conduction of travel agency activities. 4. Legal status of travel agencies in Serbia. 5. Position of agencies in the tourism economy system. 6. Types of travel agencies. 7. Role of travel agencies in the tourism market. 8. Basic features and contents of service program of travel agencies and tour operators. 9. Work process and human resources in travel agencies. 10. Intermediate business operations. 11. Package tour as specific product of travel agencies. 12. Legal regulation of relationship between travel agencies and tourists. 13. Consumer protection. 14. Changes in the tourism market and contemporary tendencies in the business of travel agencies. 15. Horizontal and vertical integrations in agency business.

Practical lectures

Formation of package tours. Calculation of package tours. Familiarisation with business instruments in the agency business. Case studies analysis. Presentations of term papers. Visit and practical activities in travel agencies.
